Nd:YAG – Neodymium doped yttrium aluminum garnet
Absorption 808 nm | Emission 1064 nm
Nd:YAG (Yttrium aluminium garnet doped with neodymium Nd: Y3Al5O12) is an isotropic crystal with cubic symmetry. It is one of the most widely recognized oxide crystals used as an active medium in solid-state lasers. This crystal is light purple in colour. The primary advantage of Nd crystals are the presence of neodymium ions, which contribute to the lasing activity by replacing a small fraction of yttrium ions. These crystals are typically grown using the Czochralski technique. Although other growth methods are possible, the Czochralski technique offers significant advantages, including high optical quality and the ability to produce large-diameter crystals.
